Sam Poo Kong, Semarang, Indonesia
During a recent trip to Semarang, Indonesia I visited the Sam Poo Kong Temple. The property consists of five temples each a mix of Chinese and Javanese architecture which was established by the Chinese Muslim explorer Zheng He (also known as Sanbao). The temple is shared by several religions including Buddhists and Muslims and is the oldest in Semarang. It is unique in that it does not cater to one specific religion but is a peaceful place for various ethnicities and religious groups.
